How many weeks?

I can't even remember how old Anna is today. She's a whole bunch of weeks old, or 5.5 months for the "week-challenged" folks like me.

She loves to grab her legs when she's on her back. The moment the diaper comes off her legs shoot up and she's trying to shove them in her mouth. So I usually let her have some toe time while she gets nice and aired out. She's a chunk monster, at least she looks like a chunk monster but she still measures in the 50% range. She tried peas last night and tonight. She likes them ok, but they're certainly not her favorite food thus far. She'll get some green beans in a couple of days. By the time she turns 6 months old she will probably have tasted everything she's allowed to.

Madeline is practicing for her recital. It's coming up pretty soon. I have to admit that I am a little sad to think about her recital because my mom is not here to see it. I guess she's watching from a different perspective. I hope anyway. The tap dance is similar to last years, but the ballet is different. She announced a week ago that she's going to be a dance (part time) when she gets older. I can't remember what the other occupation was going to be. I think it was a city planner. That's a staple for her and she's been saying city planner for well over a year now. Maddie visited the Omaha Symphony today and had a lot of fun. Ryan helped chaparone her class. He said it was a western theme. She enjoyed it last year too when I chaparoned and the theme last year was related to weather and foreign countries. They made rainmakers for it last year and this year made kazoos.

Last weekend she went looking at flower girl dresses with Mary. She had a blast trying on dresses. They didn't find the perfect dress yet, but that's ok since there's plenty of time. Before dress shopping we had the pleasure of going to the Amazing Pizza Machine with our friends the Kriegers. Ashley and Audrey are some of Maddie's best friends. They all had a great time. That was the day before we left for Great Wolf Lodge. It's been a busy week to say the least.

Ryan is presently installing a new dishwasher. We got tired of the existing dishwasher because it wouldn't clean anything. It had been getting progressively worse and about a week ago it didn't wash the glasses at all! Ryan's had to wash the dishes by hand for the last few days. Thankfully we were out of town for several days and didn't have any dirty dishes to wash. Regardless, the new one is almost in and we'll soon be in dishwasher heaven.

We're now trying to plan our fall vacation which is a road trip to Florida. We were originally planning a direct drive (via motor home) but now are considering swinging by the Liberty Bell, Washington DC, Newport News VA, then on to Florida. We're all looking forward to lounging on the beach while we visit our friends in Jacksonville. Nothing going on this weekend nor next week that I can think of.
